How Printpak is different

Most lists of boring technical stuff go on and on, so here is our statement of uniqueness.  If it’s too short you can always read the footnotes!

“Printpak1 expertly2 and consistently3 helps you quote4 either from scratch5 or from a pre-existing template6, prints all documentation including invoicing7 (with user-definable form layouts8), provides a “function-rich” environment to help you plan and manage your business9, and comes with a generous selection of management tools9, at a surprisingly low price10, all of which makes it a logical choice for your company!11

Now you can add to that a really innovative, powerful, and popular user interface12, combining ease of use with personalised ‘at your fingertips’ information13, a web ‘presence’ so that your customers can see and order/re-order jobs14... and it’s all in a single15 Vista-compliant16, future-proof17 package that you can even try before you buy18!”

That’s enough to be getting on with, surely?19

Notes:

1 Printpak is a tried and tested system which produces literally millions of quotes every year, and is used in every continent except (as far as we know) Antarctica.

2 Printpak’s calculation is based on a knowledge engine which can make intelligent use of the available production methods for each variation of each job.  It’s not just a glorified spreadsheet with pre-configured production routes!

3 Because Printpak can work intelligently from a strong mathematical base, the resulting prices are not only accurate but extremely consistent.  If the user had to specify every detail, the resulting price would be as variable as a manually quoted job.  Ask users of other systems about accuracy and pricing consistency!

4 Printpak can choose the best press and material size for any job from a mix of digital, litho, continuous and web presses, taking the origination and finishing into account, and advising you on the pages to view and nature of each pass.  You really don’t have to do the hard work yourself, (unless you want to).

5 A simple ‘wizard’ takes you through the necessary questions – you simply describe the job – not the production technicalities (again, unless you want to).

6 A Printpak QuickQuote reference job contains the configuration of the finished job without specifying in advance the production method.  This means that at run-time the system can calculate the best solution for itself, considering all the possible production methods, material sizes, presses, pre-press operations, trimming, finishing, etc.  This contrasts with traditional ‘templates’ which assume that the production methodology contained in the template itself.  The implication of this is that whether you want a hundred or a million of an item, it will always be calculated to run the same way.

7 Full sales order processing is included, with links to accounts packages such as Sage.

8 Printpak has been developing continuously for 18 years, and has managed to retain all its functionality.  Concepts such as the ‘customer present’ flag’, ‘driver’s seat’ dashboard, customer relationship tracking, and tools for analysing turnover, profit, and added value are in-built. All functions are fully integrated to minimise user entries.  You don’t have to pay ‘per module’!

9 Printpak has its own integrated forms designer for your estimates, invoices etc, and a scheduler for helping you plan production.  These are included – there’s no extra charge.

10 There are a variety of ways to pay for Printpak – it could even work out less than the financial benefit of someone giving up smoking! Contact us to discuss your requirements.

11 Over 800 companies worldwide have chosen Printpak for their M.I.S.  Why don’t you?

12 We invited users to see and comment on the system.  Over 90% of them awarded 10 points out of a possible 10 for the new interface.  Comments went from ‘This is fantastic’ to ‘More than we dreamt of’.

13 It appears we’ve been looking at the same research as Microsoft - you’ll find that if you use Outlook 2007 there will be many familiar features.  The emphasis is always on ‘you don’t have to look any further - it’s there’.

14 The Printpak Printprices web technology was born of a DTI grant which we won for innovation back in 2004.  It enables you to reveal to chosen customers, on a fully hosted website, selected details of their current and past jobs, with the ability to re-order existing jobs and to order pre-priced ‘contract’ jobs.

15 It really does all come in a single package.  There are no charges for extra modules.  We’ve always thought that companies who sell a single module at a time are like a man who quotes you for supplying and installing a door and then wants to charge the same again for the hinges (“you mean the vertical revolve ‘gravitational’ model is not sufficient sir?”).

16 Yes, it’s fully compatible with Windows Vista, though you can run it on Windows 2000 and Windows XP on both 32 bit and 64 bit computers. N.B.  if you want to run it on an Itanium 64 bit computer please let us know, as we will have to supply a slightly different version (at no extra cost, of course).

17 We’ve been careful to follow the best modern industry-standard methods.  The resulting system is pretty much as future proof as Microsoft itself! We believe that many of our rivals are likely to come unstuck in the future – they’ll either have to rewrite from scratch (as we have done) or fall by the wayside.

18 We’ve always operated a free try before you buy policy.  None of our competitors have the confidence to do this.  They figure that you won’t be able to set up their systems without expensive consultancy!

19 Watch this space.  There’s a lot more in the pipeline for this year.  We’re now starting to reap the benefits from a complete re-write.  New features and new ideas will be coming thick and fast.
